UBF Round 2 Part 1- Enter Kira

Part one of my entry for #Pokemon-UBF round 2
It requires our OC battling three people, then the Castle Brains, so the first person Lauren has to battle is Kira Soul (~Flower-Apple's OC). Here it's a battle with Duke (Lauren's Riolu), and Tass (Kira's Pidgeotto)
So here's the story:
After the interview, Lauren found out what the results for Round 1 were, and discovered she made the cut...but just barely. "I'm so happy I made it, Korey..." she said softly to her little Mawile, Korey, who was on her lap, "I didn't think I'd go to round 2 since I was so nervous during the interview..."
"Ma-mawile!" Korey responded cheerfully.
"H-hi..." a meek voice called out to Lauren, "Are you the one I'm paired up with in round 2?"
Lauren double checked the list, and she nodded slightly, indicating a "yes".
"Okay...my name's Kira...Kira Soul....", the girl said, outstretching her arm for a handshake.
"Oh, my name's Lauren...", she responded, shaking hands with the girl.
"Can we battle now?"
"I don't see why not."
Kira then pulled out her Pokeball, and called for her Pidgeot, Tass. Lauren did the same, but called out her Riolu, Duke.

After a while, the two girls battled it out and Duke got noticeably weak. "This is our last chance, Duke!" Lauren exclaimed, "Use Drain Punch!"
A little dizzy, Duke managed to get up on his own two feet, and jumped up in the air in order to launch the attack. As he got closer to Tass, it appeared as though he was going to hit Tass in the chest area, indicating a critical hit. "Yes!" Lauren exclaimed, "It looks like a direct hit!"
'I hope Tass will be okay...' Kira thought to herself, her concern going straight to her Pidgeotto.
As it turned out, Duke's attack was a critical hit, causing Tass to crashland and faint. Kira sighed patiently, returning Tass to her Pokeball. "You did great...." she whispered.
"Duke, return." Lauren ordered, getting Duke back into his respective Pokeball. "You really have a lot of guts, don't you?" she said with a slight chuckle.
As Lauren was about to leave, Kira tapped her lightly on the shoulder, holding out a small, yellow token with a lightning bold engraved on it. "Here you go..." Kira said, placing it into Lauren's hand, "You earned it."
Lauren was a bit surprised at first, but then she smiled and said, "Thanks so much...I hope you do well in the next round."
The two then went their separate ways, to find their next opponent.
